There"s A Petition For "Star Wars" To Include It"s First LGBT Character Paying Tribute To An Orlando Victim

Over 2,000 people have signed a petition for Disney and Lucasfilm to include their first LGBT character in the next Star Wars movie. The campaign pays tribute to Drew Leinonen, who was one of the 49 victims of the Orlando mass shooting on June 12, 2016.

Leinonen’s best friend, Joshua Yehl, started the petition to honor his legacy. “I’m writing this letter to request that Drew’s passing be honored by using him as inspiration for the first-ever LGBT Star Wars character to appear in a movie,” Yehl wrote.
